The horrors of the Chechen War are told through the point of view of confused, frightened Russians soldiers who are not ready to die. The director wanted to convey the loneliness and fear of these young soldiers through the visual contrast between simple everyday acts such as shaving, cooking and mealtimes, and terrible moments of war, such as being forced to jump from an airplane without a parachute. The documentary is traversed by a constant tension, in which the sense of coercion to which the young men are subjected daily is evident.
