At the end of WWII, Italy was strapped with enormous financial damages, two million unemployed people and numerous parts of the country in a state of total poverty. Their stories of deprivation, strug- gle, backbreaking work and discrimination, as well as their dreams and freedom, make up our mem- ory as immigrants.
