Alla presenza di Stefano Savona

Eighteen families that lost their homes occupied Palazzo delle Aquile, Palermo’s City Hall, for a month. From the first day, a clear challenge was launched: their houses in exchange for the Palazzo. Home and City Hall: the private dimension and personal needs on the one hand, public space and political power on the other. During the month-long occupation, the two overlapped, to physically and symbolically become a single space. The fleeting conquest of Palermo’s City Hall shows the right to that which we call democracy, and its opposite.
