In the presence of the director

On the night of April 6, 2009, a violent earthquake devastated one of Italy’s most beautiful cities and the surrounding area. From that moment, L’Aquila became a theatre for national and international politics yet for months the “shaken” people were uprooted and entirely excluded from the political choices deciding their future. Shot over 15 months, the film presents Italy’s most media-covered and mystified city, which went from resignation to revolt through a thousand transformations, inter- weaving stories of people, places, voices and the laughter of entrepreneurial “vultures” who sparked the Wheelbarrow Protest when the earthquake was no longer headline news.
