A day in the life of Andrée, in her Parisian apartment on Rue Granier, in the rooms of ‘her’ cine- ma... Andrée Tournes (1921-2012) taught literature and Latin in diverse high schools, started a film club and was one of the founding members of the Fédération Jean Vigo. In 1964, with Jean and Ginette Delmas, she started the magazine Jeune cinéma and later became its editor. She also founded a small distribution company in order to give visibility in France to films such as Gianfranco Mingozzi’s La vela incantata and A City of Sadness by Hsiao-hsien Hou.
She counted the Taviani brothers, Elio Petri, Ettore Scola and Mingozzi among her many filmmaker friends, she had a true passion for Italy and was an expert on its cinema. She faith- fully attended the Venice Film Festival, as well as the Pesaro Film Festival from its inception.
