Cristina has done nothing her whole life but take care of her ailing, widowed mother. Single, jobless and friend- less, Cristina still lives in her hometown, San Francisco de Mostazal. A few days before her 50th birthday, Cristina meets up with Sandra, an old schoolmate who came back for her father’s funeral. Sandra is a free spirit who is not worried about what others think. Seeing her forces Cristina to re-examine her own life and surroundings.

Friends since their teen years, Enrique Farías and Rosario Espinosa (Santiago, Chile, 1991) both studied cinema at the Universidad del Desarrollo. Their short film, Aliño Completo (2011), written and directed by Farías, with Espinosa working as AD, won a prize at the Valdivia Film Festival. They co-directed their next short, La chancha (2012). Presented at the 2014 San Sebastián International Film Festival, The Mother of the Lamb is their grad- uation film and feature debut.
