C’eravamo tanto amati

Spanning the Resistance to the 1970s, the films follows the existential vicissitudes of friends Antonio, Gianni and Nicola, who differ in temperament and background, and the woman, Luciana, that will change their lives. This restored version of We All Loved Each Other So Much enhances the passage from b&w to color of the original film. The restoration was done by the CSC-Cineteca Nazionale under the supervision of Lu- ciano Tovoli, from the original negatives from Dean Film.

“While the film helped Italians get to know and understand themselves a little better, it didn’t help the coun- try solve its ills. Ettore loved saying that if a film remains fresh, it isn’t to the merit of the director and writ- ers so much as to the demerit of society, which has not solved its problems. I’m happy that it was restored so that new generations can continue to see it. And think.” Silvia Scola
