THE WINNERS OF THE 54TH PESARO FILM FESTIVAL

COMPETITION PESARO NUOVO CINEMA 2018 – LINO MICCICHÈ AWARD
The winner of the Competition Pesaro Nuovo Cinema is Julien Faraut’s JOHN MCENROE: IN THE REALM OF PERFECTION [L’EMPIRE DE LA PERFECTION] (France, 2018, 95’).
The Lino Miccichè Award for Best Film was assigned by a professional jury made of actress and film director Tea Falco, film director Paolo Franchi, and documentary film-maker Stefano Savona with the motivation:
“Having appreciated the diverse and courageous film selection for the competition, the jury unanimously assigns the Lino Miccichè Award to JOHN MCENROE: IN THE REALM OF PERFECTION [L’EMPIRE DE LA PERFECTION] by Julien Faraut. The film director made an obsessive and surprising film that, by way of a rare stylistic sophistication and a both radical and philological editing of archival footage, gradually unravels the innermost aspects of the hero.”
The film will be released in Italy during Fall 2018 by Wanted. ***

“for the clever and multi-layered exploration of heterogeneous languages ranging from film to sport, education to philosophy, that come together in a highly innovative work reflecting on the quest for perfection and the ontology of the moving image creating a dialectics between different archival sources”.
